Once upon a time in a small town, there lived a boy named Tom Sawyer. He was very popular with his friends but also known for causing trouble. One day, the townspeople announced that they needed help whitewashing Aunt Polly’s fence to pay off some bills. The kids were tired of this task and didn’t want to participate.
Tom thought of an idea. He told them he would do it, but he wanted everyone else to join in. So before anyone knew what was happening, Tom invited all his friends over. While they laughed about the joke on Aunt Polly, they got started whitewashing. They worked together and had fun singing songs every now and then.
Before long, Jiminy Crabappel came along; he didn’t believe that everyone could do it so quickly. But when he saw how beautiful Tom’s part of the fence looked compared to everyone else’s, he realized his joke wasn’t funny at all! All Aunt Polly friends were praised for their hard work and teamwork.
